Open/Close
for bass clarinet and large ensemble
Open/Close was composed for Michele Marelli and OMN and premiered in Nospr in November 2020. The title of the piece refers
to the construction of the instrument in which the opening and closing of the tone wholes allows for pitch change. There is a super
flexible 3D printed plastic reed invented by Panayiotis Kokoras used in the section using Bb clarinet. The work has been composed with the
financial support of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage under the "Compositional Commissions" programme.
