Missing Voices

Missing Voices is based on the piece by Comtessa de Dia "A chantar m'er de so qu'eu no volria" (eng: I will sing of that which I wouldn't have wanted to). This song is the oldest surviving songs where both the lyrics and music were preserved by a female troubadour. Because almost no music of female composers of Middle Ages and Renaissance was preserved one wonders how our understanding of music and culture would look like if the voices of woman artists and composers were not missing or lost.

The work has been commissioned by "Harmonie i Hałasy" Foundation and was written for Ewa Libchen (flute), Anna Kwiatkowska (violin) and Mikołaj Pałosz (cello) with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage under the Compositional Commissions Program.
